Well! What a great wedding! I just love being a wedding photographer in Devon! I absolutely loved every minute of Gemma & Darren’s wedding at Streamcombe Farm near Dulverton on Exmoor, Somerset. The wedding was actually a blessing and took place in the woods within the grounds of the farm. I met up with the couple the afternoon before for a chat and to get the lay of the land. I was quite excited by their plans and couldn’t wait to get started. The couple had travelled down from Oxfordshire for the blessing and would actually be doing the official bit a few weeks later in Hastings. The couple’s friends and family had travelled from far and wide to be with them to celebrate their special day. I met up with Gemma getting ready in one of the rooms. There was plenty of excitement, laughter and champagne as the girls got ready. Once ready Gemma with her father, bridesmaid and flower-girl headed towards the woods. It was quite a walk to where Darren was waiting with the guests. Gemma was very emotional when she arrived with her Dad. The ceremony was very beautiful and it is always nice to capture something a little more relaxed. After the tying of the knot the couple jumped over the broom, this sealed the deal! After the ceremony the couple walked down the fern avenue under a shower of confetti. The guests headed off to the farm gardens for some refreshments while I captured some lovely shots of the couple.
On returning to join the guests, speeches were given by Gemma’s father, best-man, groom & the bride next to the apple tree while guests lounged on the grass and hay-bales. For the cutting of the cake the party gathered in one of the barns before sitting down for food. The food was prepared by Streamcombe Farm. The size of the steaks were impressive and very tasty, yum yum! The farm offer cookery courses so we were in good hands. After the meal and a few glasses of bubbly the guests were treated to some live music by Gemma’s father on the harmonica, a guest on vocals & guitar and Ian the chef also on vocals & guitar. It was brilliant! It was lovely to see the kids lining up with plates waiting for the cake to be cut up. The games began on the lawn next the the Shepherds Hut. Always a great time to capture the fun! You can’t beat a bit of competitive swing-ball. A little later the couple moved on to the open barn and danced the first dance while their guests watched on and joined in. It was fun! In fact the whole day was fun! It was great to capture the happy couple celebrating and having a ball with their family & friends. I may have said this already but I love my job!
