Now a well known hotel, there has been a Square and Compass Inn at Windmill Hill for over 200 years.
The present owners, Chris and Janet Slow are celebrating their 15th year and in that time have built a reputation for very good food and drink in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Inn, the Hotel and The Barn are run in a relaxed, informal manner but with great attention to food quality and service, allowing you to enjoy your stay here in the Hotel, the Inn and the Barn (a purpose built wedding venue standing alone in the gardens).
The speciality of our weddings is that the whole day revolves around an exceptionally good quality, generous meal in the afternoon, prepared and cooked by a team of highly professional Chefs lead by Janet, one of the owners. "We find that if the food is really good then everything else slots into place" says Chris. "In 2005 we demolished the old kitchens and invested 100k in a new state of the art catering kitchen. We now employ 3 full-time, fully qualified, Chefs who can work in our spacious, cool, kitchen, allowing us to prepare some seriously good food for your wedding."
